At just 4cm in length, it is a neat and practical way to add a little extra length to a favourite chain, while the starry links add a touch of delicate character in their own right.

Pinchbeck was an alloy of copper and zinc, devised in the early 18th century as a convincing alternative to gold, and it was widely used in Georgian jewellery for its warm, golden colour. Pairing a Georgian chain with a fine French gold clip gives this little piece a lovely mix of period details, making it a charming find for collectors of early jewellery.

Era: Georgian chain with antique French dog clip
Material: Pinchbeck chain, 18ct gold dog clip
Hallmarks: None, but professionally tested
Weight: 2.08g
Measurements: Approx 4cm total length
Condition: Good antique condition.
