Welcome to England's Dreaming Jewels, a carefully curated collection of antique jewellery based in the historic city of Norwich in the UK. We are a small, dedicated team that includes our beloved Whippet cross Bedlington Terrier, Wilma, who serves as our ultimate gem finder and morale booster.
Meet Birgitt…
At the heart of England's Dreaming Jewels is founder Birgitt, originally from Germany, whose lifelong fascination with jewellery began in childhood. Growing up, she spent her time trawling flea markets across the continent, captivated by tiny things – miniature jewels, delicate sculptures, fragments of history waiting to be discovered. With a deep love for archaeology, she saw each piece as an opportunity to hoard history itself, building a collection that would eventually grow into something far greater.
Expertise & credentials...
Birgitt's expertise in the world of jewellery is grounded in both artistry and formal training. She holds a degree in Fine Art Sculpture from Norwich, where she came to view jewellery as mini sculptures – wearable art that carries the same creative intention and craftsmanship as larger works. To deepen her understanding of the treasures she so cherishes, she pursued accreditation as a gemologist through the Asian Institute of Gemological Sciences (AIGS), achieving her qualification with distinction. This knowledge of gemstones is paramount to her work, allowing her to appreciate not only the beauty of each piece but the geological and historical significance held within every stone.

Since establishing England's Dreaming Jewels in 1996, Birgitt has travelled across Europe and beyond, sourcing jewellery that speaks to us – pieces with compelling histories, rare elements, articulated designs, and exquisite examples of early craftsmanship. We offer custom jewellery design, working closely with you to bring your vision to life. Our small, skilled team includes specialists in enamelling, goldsmithing, and CAD design, and we also create bespoke engagement and wedding rings that are as meaningful as they are beautiful.
Sourcing

Restorations, Alterations & Repairs
Your deeply personal heirlooms no longer need to sit in a box collecting dust. We provide expert restoration services to remodel or redesign your antique or treasured pieces, giving them a new lease of life so they can once again be worn and cherished. We also offer ring resizing and repairs, though each piece is assessed individually depending on its style, material, and age. While we can't guarantee we'll be able to alter every item, we always do our best to help.
