An extraordinary and visually commanding antique ring, remarkable both for its scale and its rarity. Featuring exceptional finger coverage, this is a true statement piece and one of the most impressive examples of its kind we have encountered.

At the centre sits a panel of shakudō ware, originally from an antique Japanese sword fitting, traditionally positioned at the top of the sword handle. When swords were decommissioned, these finely worked elements were often repurposed into jewellery, allowing the extraordinary craftsmanship of Japanese metalworkers to be appreciated in a new context. Shakudō, an alloy prized for its rich dark patina and intricate engraving, was revered for its beauty and technical sophistication.

Here, the shakudō centre is perfectly complemented by an elaborately engraved silver setting, worked in great detail to frame and enhance the intricacy of the central panel. The result is a spectacular and highly collectable ring that seamlessly blends Japanese artistry with Western jewellery design.
