Antique Victorian 18ct Gold & Turquoise Cross Locket

A sensational and rare Victorian cross pendant, beautifully crafted in rich 18ct gold. The pendant is not hallmarked, which is typical of the period, but has been professionally tested as 18ct gold. The front is set with vibrant turquoise cabochons, their soft blue tones providing a striking and symbolic contrast against the warmth of the gold.

To the reverse is a small circular glass-fronted locket compartment, intended to hold a sacred or personal relic.  It currently contains a piece of fabric, which can be changed if desired. Cross pendants of this nature were worn close to the body as objects of faith, remembrance, and protection.
